Writing a Paragraph Answering Questions
প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিয়ে অনুচ্ছেদ লেখা
Introductionভূমিকা
In this question you are given a title and a few questions, and you answer all of them as one connected paragraph — not as a numbered list. The questions are your plan: answer them in the order given, one or two sentences each, and the paragraph almost builds itself.
Definitionসংজ্ঞা
A paragraph answering questions is a single block of prose, written under a given title, in which every supplied question is answered in the order it was asked — usually in one or two sentences each — with linking words joining the answers and the question numbers left out completely.
প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিয়ে লেখা অনুচ্ছেদ হলো একটানা একটি লেখা, দেওয়া শিরোনামের নিচে, যেখানে প্রতিটি প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেওয়া ক্রমেই আসে — সাধারণত এক-দুই বাক্যে — উত্তরগুলো যুক্ত হয় সংযোজক শব্দ দিয়ে, আর প্রশ্নের নম্বর একেবারেই লেখা হয় না।
Bangla Explanation
“What is a village fair?” থেকে হবে “A village fair is a…”; “When is it held?” থেকে হবে “It is usually held in…”।
Examplesউদাহরণ
- What is a village fair? → A village fair is a large gathering of buyers and sellers held in an open field of a village.প্রশ্নের শব্দগুলোই উত্তরের শুরু: “What is X?” থেকে “X is …”।
- When is it usually held? → It is usually held in the month of Baishakh, and many fairs begin on Pahela Baishakh.“When…?” প্রশ্নের উত্তরে সময়টা প্রথমেই বলে দাও, তারপর একটা ছোট বাড়তি তথ্য।
- What things are sold there? → Clay pots, wooden toys, bangles and sweets are sold in rows of small stalls.তালিকার প্রশ্নে চার-পাঁচটা জিনিসই যথেষ্ট; কমা দিয়ে সাজিয়ে শেষে and বসাও।
- Who comes to the fair? → Villagers of all ages come to it, but the children wait for it most eagerly.but দিয়ে দুটো তথ্য এক বাক্যে এনে ফেললে লেখাটা প্রশ্নোত্তরের মতো শোনায় না।
- Why do people like it? → People like it because it brings the whole village together for a day.“Why…?” প্রশ্নের উত্তর সবসময় because দিয়ে দিলে ভালো — কারণটাই তো চাওয়া হয়েছে।
- How do you feel about it? → I always look forward to the fair, for it is the one day when everyone in our village meets in the same field.শেষ প্রশ্নটা সাধারণত অনুভূতির — এটাই তোমার শেষ বাক্য, নতুন কোনো বিষয় এখানে তুলো না।
- Two answers joined: 'It is held in Baishakh. Villagers of all ages come.' → It is held in Baishakh, and villagers of all ages come to it.দুটো ছোট উত্তর and দিয়ে জোড়া লাগালে অনুচ্ছেদ ভেঙে ভেঙে যায় না।
Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
(a) A village fair is a gathering. (b) It is held in Baishakh.
A village fair is a gathering of buyers and sellers. It is usually held in Baishakh.
The question asks for a paragraph, so the numbers turn a correct answer into the wrong form. Answer in the same order, but let the sentences run on.
What is a village fair? A village fair is a gathering of buyers and sellers.
A village fair is a gathering of buyers and sellers.
Copying the question back costs you time and adds nothing. Use the words of the question to start the answer instead.
Village fair is held in Baishakh.
A village fair is held in Baishakh.
Bangla has no article, so 'a' and 'the' quietly disappear. A singular countable noun in English needs one of them in front of it.
Many peoples come to the fair.
Many people come to the fair.
'People' is already the plural of 'person'. In Bangla one word — মানুষ — covers both one and many, so 'people' feels singular and picks up an English -s.
In the fair many things are sold.
At the fair many things are sold.
Bangla uses one ending -এ for both, so 'in' gets chosen every time. English uses 'at' for an event you attend, and 'in' for a space you are inside.
Tipsটিপস
- Count the questions before you start — that number is how many parts your paragraph needs. — শুরুর আগে প্রশ্ন গুনে নাও — ওই সংখ্যাটাই তোমার অনুচ্ছেদের ভাগের সংখ্যা।
- Turn each question into the opening words of its own answer; the grammar comes free with it. — প্রতিটি প্রশ্নকে তার উত্তরের প্রথম শব্দগুলোতে বদলে নাও; বাক্যগঠনটা তখন এমনিতেই ঠিক থাকে।
- Two or three linking words in the whole paragraph is enough — one in every sentence sounds mechanical. — পুরো অনুচ্ছেদে দুই-তিনটা সংযোজক শব্দই যথেষ্ট — প্রতিটি বাক্যে একটা করে বসালে যান্ত্রিক শোনায়।
- Keep one tense throughout: present simple for something that happens regularly, past for one finished event. — পুরো লেখায় একই টেন্স রাখো: নিয়মিত ঘটে এমন কিছুতে present simple, একবার ঘটে যাওয়া ঘটনায় past।
- Answer every question first. Extra information of your own is only worth adding when nothing is missing. — আগে সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দাও। নিজের বাড়তি তথ্য তখনই যোগ করার মতো, যখন একটাও প্রশ্ন বাদ পড়েনি।

Frequently Asked Questionsসাধারণ জিজ্ঞাসা
Do I have to write the questions in my answer?
No. Write only the answers, in the order the questions were asked. Use the words of each question to begin its answer — 'What is a village fair?' becomes 'A village fair is…' — so the reader can still tell which question you are on.
Can I write each answer as a separate paragraph?
No. The instruction asks for one paragraph, so the answers must run together as connected prose. Separate blocks, bullet points and numbers all change the form you were asked for, even when every answer is correct.
How long should the paragraph be?
The questions decide it. Give one or two sentences to each question, so six questions usually come out at around ten to twelve sentences. A very short answer means a question has been skipped; a very long one usually means you have started writing about something nobody asked.
Which tense should I use?
Use the present simple when the topic is something that happens regularly, such as a fair, a festival or your daily routine. Use the past when the topic is one finished event, such as a flood or a picnic you went on. Whichever you choose, keep it to the end.
Can I add information the questions do not ask for?
A short detail that fits is fine, but only after every question has been answered. Extra material cannot make up for a missing answer, and it often pushes the paragraph off the given title.
