Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By using englishbd.com, app.englishbd.com or the EnglishBD Android app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. In these terms “EnglishBD”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the platform; “you” means the person using it.

2. The service

EnglishBD provides English-learning content and tools built for Bangladeshi learners, with Bangla support wherever it helps: lessons and daily practice, a Bangla–English dictionary, model answers for school and exam writing, grammar and vocabulary references, a teacher and institution directory, and articles.

The core learning experience is free, and stays free. Optional paid, prize-paying and ad-supported extras exist — they are described in sections 6 to 9 — but they do not put a wall in front of learning.

3. Your account

Provide accurate information when you register, keep your credentials safe, and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

One person, one account. Now that the leaderboard pays real prizes, running several accounts — or sharing one — to collect points, prizes or rewards more than once is not allowed, and it is the first thing we look at when a prize is checked.

4. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the service: no unlawful activity, no attempting to break or overload the platform, no scraping or bulk-copying of content, no impersonating others, and no harassment of other learners, teachers or institutions.

Do not use scripts, bots, emulators or modified clients to answer exercises, farm points, or move your position on the leaderboard. Practise as a person practising.

5. Content

EnglishBD’s learning content (lessons, articles, dictionary entries, exercises, model answers) belongs to EnglishBD or its licensors. You may use it for personal learning; you may not republish or resell it.

Content you submit (for example, practice answers or profile information) remains yours; you grant us the licence needed to operate the service — to store, display and process it for you.

6. EnglishBD Super

EnglishBD Super is an optional paid subscription. It adds convenience and extras on top of the free platform; it does not buy a better position on the leaderboard, and it is not needed in order to learn.

In the Android app, Super is sold through Google Play. Google is the seller and handles payment, renewal and refunds: the price in Bangladeshi taka is shown before you confirm, the subscription renews each month until you cancel, and you cancel it in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Super keeps working to the end of the period you have already paid for.

Super may be offered with a free trial. Where it is, the app shows the length of the trial and the exact amount and frequency you will be charged once it ends, before you confirm anything. A trial does not stop by itself: unless you cancel before it ends, it becomes a paid subscription at the price shown, and the app links straight to the Play Store page where you cancel. Cancelling during the trial keeps Super working until the trial's last day and charges you nothing.

Super can also reach you without a purchase — through a gift code, or a grant from us. Those do not renew and simply end on the date shown. If a payment is refunded, reversed or charged back, the Super it paid for ends with it.

If we ever discontinue Super or change what it includes, we will say so before it affects a period you have already paid for.

7. The weekly leaderboard and its prizes

The weekly leaderboard ranks learners on genuine learning activity during that week. The prize amounts, the number of prizes and the week’s closing time are shown on the leaderboard itself rather than repeated here, because they can change; whatever is shown there when a week closes is what applies to that week.

Prizes are paid in Bangladeshi taka. To be paid you claim your prize and give us a payout account — bKash, Nagad, Rocket or a bank account — in your own name. Check what you enter: we pay to the account you give us. A prize must be claimed within the window shown on it; after that it lapses.

This is a contest of effort and skill, not a lottery, and no purchase is required to enter. Multiple accounts, shared accounts, automation or any other manipulation void the prize and may close the account.

We may hold a week, correct a board, or pause a payout while we check something. We would rather a prize arrived a few days late than pay one that was not earned.

8. Inviting friends

You have a personal invite code. A referral earns something only when it produces a real learner: the person you invited registers, confirms their email address and actually starts learning. An install on its own earns nothing, and nothing is paid for a download.

You both earn points as your friend passes each step, and if they later subscribe to EnglishBD Super you may receive a share of it — paid either as extra days of Super or in cash, whichever is in force at the time. A share of a subscription is held until the period in which it could still be refunded has passed; if the payment is refunded or reversed, the share is not paid.

Referral points are separate from the weekly leaderboard, which counts learning activity only. Inviting people cannot buy you a prize.

Inviting yourself with a second account, selling or spamming your code, and bulk sign-ups are not allowed. Rewards may be held while we check a referral, and are reversed if it turns out not to be genuine. We publish the reward amounts in the app rather than here, because they change.

9. Advertising

The public website carries advertising served by Google AdSense, and the Android app carries advertising served by Google AdMob. This is what keeps the core free.

Advertising never appears inside an active lesson. Some ads in the app are optional and rewarded — you choose to watch one to get something back, such as restoring a heart. Watching is always your choice, and declining never costs you access to learning.

What an advertiser claims is the advertiser’s, not ours. We do not endorse the products shown.

10. Teacher & institution directory

Directory pages for institutions are compiled from publicly available facts. Teacher profiles are claim-based: real teacher profiles exist only when the teacher creates or claims them; demonstration profiles are clearly marked as samples.

Claiming a profile requires confirming your identity and, for teachers, your institution. Inaccurate claims may be removed. If a page about you needs correction, contact us.

11. The Android app

The EnglishBD app is distributed through Google Play, so your use of it is also subject to Google Play’s terms. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use it; you may not modify, repackage, reverse-engineer or redistribute it.

We release updates as the platform develops. Some updates are needed for the app to keep working with the service, so an old version may stop functioning after a while.

12. Honest expectations

We work hard to make the content accurate and the practice effective, but learning outcomes depend on you — we do not guarantee exam scores, jobs or specific results. The service is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law.

Some features are AI-assisted. AI explanations can be wrong or incomplete, and they are practice help rather than professional, legal, medical or academic advice. Check anything that matters.

13. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EnglishBD is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

14. Ending or changing the service

You can stop using EnglishBD and delete your account at any time — in the app under Profile → Account → Delete account, on the web at app.englishbd.com/account, or by following the steps at englishbd.com/account-deletion. Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Deleting your account does not by itself cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel that in the Play Store, or it will keep renewing.

We may suspend accounts that break these terms. We may update features and these terms as the platform evolves; significant changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
