A good short story is not about big words — it is about a clear beginning, a problem in the middle, and a satisfying end. Once you know this simple shape, you can write a story on almost any topic.
ভালো ছোট গল্প বড় বড় শব্দের ব্যাপার নয় — এটা স্পষ্ট শুরু, মাঝখানে একটি সমস্যা ও সন্তোষজনক শেষের ব্যাপার। এই সহজ কাঠামো জানলে প্রায় যেকোনো বিষয়ে গল্প লিখতে পারবেন।

A short story has characters, a setting (time and place), a plot with a beginning, middle and end, and often a moral or lesson at the close.
একটি ছোট গল্পে থাকে চরিত্র, একটি setting (সময় ও স্থান), শুরু-মধ্য-শেষ সহ একটি plot, এবং প্রায়ই শেষে একটি নীতিকথা বা শিক্ষা।

গল্প লেখার সহজ ধাপগুলো মনে রাখুন। প্রথমে চরিত্র ও setting ঠিক করুন — কে, কোথায়, কখন। এরপর গল্পকে তিন ভাগে ভাগ করুন। শুরু (beginning): চরিত্র ও পরিস্থিতি পরিচয় করান, past tense-এ লিখুন — “Once there was a poor farmer…”। মধ্য (middle): একটি সমস্যা বা ঘটনা আনুন, এটাই গল্পের প্রাণ। শেষ (end): সমস্যার সমাধান দিন এবং চাইলে একটি moral যোগ করুন — “Moral: Hard work always pays.”। গল্প বেশিরভাগ past tense-এ লিখুন এবং ঘটনার ক্রম বোঝাতে first, then, after that, finally, at last-এর মতো শব্দ ব্যবহার করুন। সংলাপ (dialogue) যোগ করলে গল্প জীবন্ত হয়: The boy said, “I will not give up.”। ছোট, স্পষ্ট বাক্যই সবচেয়ে ভালো কাজ করে।

- Finally, the king rewarded him for his honesty.শেষে রাজা তার সততার জন্য তাকে পুরস্কৃত করলেন।
- Moral: Honesty is always rewarded.নীতিকথা: সততার সবসময় পুরস্কার মেলে।
- After that, everyone in the village respected him.এরপর গ্রামের সবাই তাকে সম্মান করত।
Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
There is a farmer who found gold and is happy.
There was a farmer who found gold and was happy.
Stories are told in the past tense, so use 'was/found', not the present.
He go home. He see the king. He get a reward.
He went home. He saw the king. He got a reward.
Keep the narrative in the past tense throughout: went, saw, got.
The farmer said that I will return it.
The farmer said, "I will return it."
For direct speech, use quotation marks and a comma before the words.
The end was suddenly and nothing happened.
In the end, the farmer was rewarded and learned a lesson.
Give the ending a clear result and, if you like, a moral.
