Inviting someone — to dinner, a movie, or your wedding — is one of the friendliest things you can do in English. This lesson shows you how to invite casually and formally, and how to accept or say no politely.

An invitation in English usually starts with a question or offer: 'Would you like to…?', 'Do you want to…?', or 'How about we…?'. The response is either an accept ('I'd love to!') or a soft decline ('Sorry, I can't make it').
ইংরেজিতে নিমন্ত্রণ সাধারণত একটি প্রশ্ন বা প্রস্তাব দিয়ে শুরু হয়: 'Would you like to…?', 'Do you want to…?', বা 'How about we…?'। উত্তর হয় গ্রহণ ('I'd love to!') নয়তো নরমভাবে প্রত্যাখ্যান ('Sorry, I can't make it')।

নিমন্ত্রণের সবচেয়ে সহজ কাঠামো: “Would you like to + verb?” অথবা “Do you want to + verb?” — যেমন “Would you like to come for dinner?”, “Do you want to watch a movie?” বন্ধুদের সাথে সহজভাবে বলতে পারেন “How about we grab some tea?” আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে বলতে “I'd like to invite you to…” বা “Please join us for…” ব্যবহার করুন। খুব জরুরি একটা নিয়ম: অনুষ্ঠানের আগে 'to' বসে, 'in' নয় — “invited to my birthday”, “come to my house” (❌ 'in my birthday')। বাংলা অভ্যাসে শেষে 'na?' বা 'no?' যোগ করবেন না। গ্রহণ করতে বলুন “I'd love to, thanks!” আর না বলতে হলে আগে দুঃখ প্রকাশ করুন: “Sorry, I can't make it, but thank you for inviting me.”

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
You are invited in my birthday.
You're invited to my birthday.
We use 'to' before an event, not 'in': invited to a party, to a wedding, to dinner.
Will you come my house?
Will you come to my house?
'Come' needs 'to' before a place: come to my house, come to the party.
Let's go for a movie, na?
Do you want to go to a movie?
The tag 'na?' comes from Bangla. Make a full question instead: 'Do you want to…?'
I am inviting you for eat dinner.
I'd like to invite you for dinner.
Use the noun ('for dinner'), not 'for eat'. 'I'd like to invite you…' also sounds more natural than 'I am inviting you'.

- Match the phrase to the person. Friends: 'Wanna grab lunch?' Elders or work: 'Would you like to join us for lunch?' — মানুষভেদে বাক্য বাছুন। বন্ধুদের সাথে: 'Wanna grab lunch?' বড় কেউ বা অফিসে: 'Would you like to join us for lunch?'
- When you say no, soften it: start with 'Sorry', give a short reason, and thank them — 'Sorry, I have a class, but thanks for asking!' — 'না' বলার সময় নরম করুন: 'Sorry' দিয়ে শুরু করুন, ছোট একটা কারণ বলুন, আর ধন্যবাদ দিন — 'Sorry, I have a class, but thanks for asking!'
- Add the details that help someone say yes: the day, the time, and the place. 'Dinner at my place, Friday at 8?' — যেসব তথ্য 'হ্যাঁ' বলতে সাহায্য করে তা যোগ করুন: দিন, সময়, জায়গা। 'Dinner at my place, Friday at 8?'
