When you need a second to think in English, do not go silent — say 'Well…', 'Let me think', or 'That's a good question.' These are hesitation phrases, and they buy you the two or three seconds your brain needs while the listener keeps waiting for you instead of taking over.

A filler is a small sound or word — um, er, well, you know — that holds your turn while you think. A hesitation phrase is a whole sentence that does the same thing, such as 'Let me think for a second.'

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Means, I will go tomorrow.
I mean, I'll go tomorrow.
Bangla 'মানে' is a complete filler by itself, so it becomes a bare 'means' in English. The English phrase needs a subject: 'I mean'.
Wait wait, I am thinking.
Just a second — let me think.
'দাঁড়ান দাঁড়ান' is normal in Bangla, but a repeated 'wait' in English sounds like an order to the listener. 'Just a second' asks; 'wait wait' tells.
How to say… the office is closed.
How can I put it… the office is closed.
'How to say' is not a sentence in English — it has no subject and no finite verb, only the infinitive 'say'. The fixed thinking phrases are 'How can I put it…' and 'What's the word…'.

A filler repeated inside one sentence stops buying time and starts hiding the meaning — the listener has to work to find the sentence inside it.
