The first thing you do in almost any conversation is introduce yourself. A short, natural introduction — your name, where you are from and what you do — makes a good first impression at interviews, classes and new friendships.

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Myself Rahim.
I'm Rahim. / My name is Rahim.
'Myself Rahim' is a direct translation habit and is not used in English. Start with 'I'm' or 'My name is'.
My age is 22 years.
I'm 22 years old.
In English we say age with 'I'm … years old', not 'my age is … years'.
I am doing a job in a bank.
I work at a bank. / I have a job at a bank.
'Doing a job' sounds unnatural; use 'work at/as' or 'have a job'.
I am reading in class ten.
I'm in class ten. / I study in class ten.
'Reading' here is translated from 'পড়া'; English uses 'study' or just 'I'm in class ten'.

- In formal settings use your full name and 'It's a pleasure to meet you'; with friends, 'Hi, I'm…' is enough. — formal জায়গায় পুরো নাম ও 'It's a pleasure to meet you' বলুন; বন্ধুদের সাথে 'Hi, I'm…' যথেষ্ট।
- Smile, speak a little slowly, and say 'Nice to meet you' at the end — tone matters as much as words. — হাসুন, একটু ধীরে বলুন এবং শেষে 'Nice to meet you' বলুন — শব্দের মতোই tone-ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।
