Bargaining in English is four moves: ask the price, show that it is more than you want to pay, name your own number, then agree or leave politely. Learn one sentence for each move and you can handle the whole conversation without hunting for words in the middle of it.
ইংরেজিতে দরদাম করা মানে চারটি ধাপ: দাম জিজ্ঞেস করা, দামটা বেশি সেটা বোঝানো, নিজের দাম বলা, তারপর রাজি হওয়া বা ভদ্রভাবে চলে আসা। প্রতিটি ধাপের জন্য একটি করে বাক্য শিখে রাখলে কথার মাঝখানে আর শব্দ খুঁজতে হবে না।

Bargaining is agreeing a price with the seller before you buy. English does it with questions rather than orders — 'Is that your best price?' works, 'Give me discount' does not.
Bargaining মানে কেনার আগে বিক্রেতার সাথে দাম ঠিক করে নেওয়া। ইংরেজিতে এটা হয় প্রশ্নের মাধ্যমে, হুকুমের মাধ্যমে নয় — 'Is that your best price?' চলে, 'Give me discount' চলে না।

দরদামের প্রথম কাজ দাম জানা — “How much is this?” অথবা দোকানির দিকে জিনিসটা দেখিয়ে “How much do you want for this one?” এখানে is বাদ দেবেন না; বাংলায় “এটা কত?” বললেই হয়, ইংরেজিতে ক্রিয়াপদ লাগে। দাম শোনার পর সরাসরি “বেশি” না বলে ইংরেজিতে নরম করে বলা হয়: “That's a bit more than I wanted to spend.” বা “Hmm, that's a little high for me.” এরপর আসে সবচেয়ে দরকারি বাক্যটি — “Is that your best price?” বাংলায় আমরা বলি “শেষ দাম কত?”, কিন্তু ইংরেজিতে “What is your last price?” কেউ বলে না; best price-ই স্বাভাবিক শব্দ। ছাড় চাইলে discount শব্দটি ঠিকই আছে, শুধু আগে a বসাতে ভুলবেন না এবং অনুরোধের মতো করে বলুন: “Could you give me a discount?” নিজের দাম বলার সময় দুটি গঠন কাজে লাগে — “Would you take 1,200?” আর “Could you do it for 1,200?” একসাথে বেশি কিনলে সেটাও দরদামের অস্ত্র: “I'll take two if you can do 900 each.” দুজন দুই দামে আটকে গেলে বলা যায় “Let's meet in the middle — 1,500?” রাজি হলে ছোট করে “Okay, deal.” বা “Alright, I'll take it.” আর দাম না মিললে ঝগড়া না করে হাসিমুখে সরে আসুন: “Thanks anyway, I'll think about it.” — এই বাক্যটির পরেই অনেক সময় দোকানি নিজেই দাম কমায়। মনে রাখবেন, সব দোকানে দরদাম চলে না; সুপারশপ, শোরুম বা যেখানে গায়ে দাম লেখা সেখানে জিজ্ঞেস করলে ভদ্রভাবেই না শুনবেন — “Sorry, our prices are fixed.” সেটা অপমান নয়, ওটাই ওদের নিয়ম।

What is your last price?
Is that your best price?
'Last price' is a word-for-word translation of 'শেষ দাম'. English shops use 'best price' — 'last price' will confuse a foreign seller.
Give me discount.
Could you give me a discount?
Two problems from Bangla: there is no article before discount (Bangla has no 'a'), and the bare imperative sounds like an order. English asks for a price with a question.
How much this bag?
How much is this bag?
Bangla 'এই ব্যাগটা কত?' needs no verb, so the verb 'is' gets dropped in English too. Every English sentence needs its verb.
Please reduce the price little bit.
Could you bring the price down a little?
'A little bit' needs the 'a', and 'reduce the price' sounds like an official notice. In a shop people say 'bring it down' or 'come down a bit'.
I will take if you give 500.
I'll take it if you give it to me for 500.
Bangla drops the object ('নেব' alone is complete), but English verbs like take and give need an object — 'take it', 'give it to me' — and a price follows 'for'.

- Ask the price before you show how much you like the thing. Interest first, price second, and the price goes up. — জিনিসটা কতটা পছন্দ হয়েছে দেখানোর আগে দাম জিজ্ঞেস করুন। আগ্রহ দেখিয়ে ফেললে দাম বাড়ে।
- Keep the tone light. A smile and 'Is that your best price?' gets further than a hard voice. — সুরটা নরম রাখুন। কড়া গলার চেয়ে হাসিমুখে বলা 'Is that your best price?' বেশি কাজে দেয়।
- Be ready to leave. 'Thanks anyway, I'll think about it' is a complete, polite ending — and often the seller calls you back. — চলে আসতে প্রস্তুত থাকুন। 'Thanks anyway, I'll think about it' একটা পূর্ণ ও ভদ্র শেষ কথা — অনেক সময় দোকানি নিজেই ডাকে।
- In a supermarket or a showroom, prices are fixed — asking is fine, but expect 'Sorry, our prices are fixed.' — সুপারশপ বা শোরুমে দাম নির্দিষ্ট — জিজ্ঞেস করা যায়, তবে উত্তর হবে 'Sorry, our prices are fixed.'
