English Phrases for Complaining Politely
English Phrases for Complaining Politely (ভদ্রভাবে অভিযোগ করার ইংরেজি)
Introductionভূমিকা
Sometimes the food is cold, the room is dirty, or the delivery is late — and you need to speak up. In English, how you complain matters as much as what you complain about. Polite, indirect phrases get problems fixed faster and keep things friendly.
কখনো খাবার ঠান্ডা, ঘর নোংরা, বা ডেলিভারি দেরি — আর তখন কথা বলতেই হয়। ইংরেজিতে আপনি কীভাবে অভিযোগ করছেন তা কী নিয়ে করছেন তার মতোই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। ভদ্র, পরোক্ষ বাক্য দ্রুত সমাধান আনে আর সম্পর্কও ভালো রাখে।
Definitionসংজ্ঞা
Complaining politely means raising a problem in a soft, respectful way — using phrases like "I'm sorry to bother you, but…", "There seems to be a problem with…", and "Would it be possible to…?" instead of blunt demands.
ভদ্রভাবে অভিযোগ করা মানে কোনো সমস্যা নরম, সম্মানজনকভাবে তোলা — সরাসরি দাবি না করে "I'm sorry to bother you, but…", "There seems to be a problem with…", "Would it be possible to…?" ধরনের বাক্য ব্যবহার করা।
Bangla Explanationবাংলা ব্যাখ্যা
ভদ্র অভিযোগের সহজ সূত্র: নরম শুরু + সমস্যা + অনুরোধ। নরম শুরু: "Excuse me, sorry to bother you…", "I'm afraid…"। সমস্যা পরোক্ষভাবে বলা: "There seems to be a problem with…" ("You gave me the wrong order"-এর বদলে)। অনুরোধ: "Would it be possible to…?", "Could you please…?"। মনে রাখুন — ইংরেজিতে সরাসরি "This is bad" বা "You are wrong" রূঢ় শোনায়; নরম শব্দ (a bit, seems, I'm afraid) যোগ করলে ভদ্র হয়।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Give me another one. This is bad.
Would it be possible to get another one? This one isn't quite right.
Direct commands sound rude in English. Soften with 'Would it be possible…?' and 'isn't quite right'.
You did a mistake in my bill.
There seems to be a mistake in my bill.
Blaming 'you' sounds aggressive. Say the problem 'seems' to exist, without pointing fingers.
I am angry with your service.
I'm a bit disappointed with the service, to be honest.
'A bit disappointed' is calmer and more effective than announcing anger.
The food is very bad, change it now.
I'm afraid the food isn't very fresh — could you please replace it?
Add a soft opener ('I'm afraid') and a polite request instead of a demand.
Tipsটিপস
- Start with an apology word — 'Excuse me' or 'Sorry to bother you' — even when the problem isn't your fault. It sets a friendly tone. — একটা দুঃখপ্রকাশ দিয়ে শুরু করুন — 'Excuse me' বা 'Sorry to bother you' — সমস্যা আপনার দোষ না হলেও। এতে বন্ধুত্বপূর্ণ সুর তৈরি হয়।
- Use softening words: 'a bit', 'a little', 'seems', 'I'm afraid'. They make a complaint sound reasonable, not aggressive. — নরমকারী শব্দ ব্যবহার করুন: 'a bit', 'a little', 'seems', 'I'm afraid'। এতে অভিযোগ যুক্তিসঙ্গত শোনায়, আক্রমণাত্মক নয়।
- Ask, don't order. 'Could you please…?' works far better than 'Do this now.' — আদেশ নয়, অনুরোধ করুন। 'Could you please…?' 'Do this now'-এর চেয়ে অনেক বেশি কাজ করে।
