An overseas job interview is short, and it is not testing your English. It is testing whether you can be understood on a site, follow an instruction and turn up. Ten sentences said clearly will get you further than a hundred said fast.

An overseas recruitment interview is usually five to fifteen minutes with an agent or an employer's representative, covering who you are, what you have done, whether you are fit, and whether you understand the terms.
বিদেশে নিয়োগের ইন্টারভিউ সাধারণত পাঁচ থেকে পনেরো মিনিটের — দালাল বা নিয়োগকর্তার প্রতিনিধির সাথে। জানতে চাওয়া হয়: আপনি কে, কী কাজ করেছেন, শরীর ঠিক আছে কি না, আর শর্তগুলো বুঝেছেন কি না।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Saying 'yes' to a question you did not understand.
Sorry, please repeat.
This one habit costs migrant workers more than any grammar mistake — contract terms, working hours and salary figures are all agreed this way by accident.
I am doing mason work since 5 years.
I have been working as a mason for five years.
A stretch of time takes 'for', and the present perfect continuous is needed for work that continues to now.
Answering 'tell me about yourself' with your whole family history.
Name, country, years of experience — three sentences.
The interviewer has ten minutes and a queue outside. A short, clear answer reads as competence.
My experience is 5 years.
I have five years' experience.
The natural English phrasing, and the one an interviewer expects to hear.
Not asking who holds the passport.
Who keeps my passport?
Passport confiscation is illegal in most destination countries and is the commonest way a worker loses the ability to leave a bad job.

- Memorise three sentences: name, country, experience. Say them out loud fifty times before the interview. — তিনটে বাক্য মুখস্থ করুন: নাম, দেশ, অভিজ্ঞতা। ইন্টারভিউয়ের আগে পঞ্চাশবার জোরে বলুন।
- Learn the English name of your own trade. Saying the wrong one can send you to the wrong job. — নিজের কাজের ইংরেজি নামটা শিখুন। ভুল বললে ভুল কাজে পাঠানো হতে পারে।
- Write down the salary, the hours and who pays for food before you leave the room. — ঘর ছাড়ার আগে বেতন, কর্মঘণ্টা আর খাওয়ার খরচ কে দেবে — লিখে নিন।
- Speak slowly. Being understood matters more than sounding fluent. — ধীরে বলুন। সাবলীল শোনানোর চেয়ে বোঝা যাওয়া বেশি জরুরি।

How good does my English need to be?
For most construction, cleaning and driving jobs, basic English is enough — you need to understand instructions and answer simple questions. Clarity matters far more than vocabulary.
What if I cannot answer a question at all?
Say 'Sorry, I do not understand'. It is far better than a wrong answer, and interviewers hear it constantly. Guessing is what causes problems later.
Should I ask about the passport?
Yes. Your passport should remain with you — confiscation is illegal in most destination countries. Ask, note the answer, and treat evasiveness as a serious warning sign.
What should I take to the interview?
Passport, any trade certificate, previous work papers and photographs. Also a pen and paper: write down the salary, the hours and who pays for food and accommodation before you leave.
