Sir, I shall be grateful if you kindly publish the following lines in the letters column of your widely circulated daily. It may draw the attention of the authorities concerned. East Rampura goes under water after an hour of rain. The main road becomes knee-deep, and the lanes off it are worse because the water has nowhere to drain. On the third of August, after a single afternoon shower, the road in front of our school stayed flooded until the next morning. The causes are not mysterious. The drains have not been cleared for years and are choked with polythene and construction waste. Several outlets have been built over illegally. The road itself has sunk below the level of the buildings on either side, so water runs off the plots and collects on it. The consequences fall on everyone. Rickshaws charge double, children miss school, the water enters ground-floor rooms and shops, and dengue cases in this ward rose sharply last year. The dirty water carries sewage, and skin disease is common among the children who wade through it. We request the city corporation to clear the drains before the next monsoon, remove the illegal structures over the outlets and raise the road surface. সম্পাদক বরাবর চিঠির **ফরম্যাট ব্যক্তিগত চিঠি ও দরখাস্ত দুটোরই মাঝামাঝি**, আর এটাই গুলিয়ে ফেলার জায়গা। এখানে থাকবে: (১) প্রেরকের ঠিকানা ও তারিখ; (২) **সম্পাদকের ঠিকানা** — পত্রিকার নামসহ; (৩) **Subject লাইন**; (৪) **Sir,**; (৫) **প্রথম অনুচ্ছেদে ছাপার অনুরোধ** — এই অনুচ্ছেদটাই এই আইটেমের স্বাক্ষর, বাদ দিলে সাথে সাথে নম্বর যায়; (৬) সমস্যা; (৭) কারণ; (৮) ভোগান্তি; (৯) **নির্দিষ্ট দাবি**; (১০) **Yours faithfully** — 'obediently' নয়, কারণ সম্পাদক আপনার ঊর্ধ্বতন নন। বিষয়বস্তুতে **একটা তারিখ ও একটা নির্দিষ্ট ঘটনা** রাখুন; অভিযোগ তখন যাচাইযোগ্য শোনায়। দাবিগুলো কার্যকর রাখুন — নালা পরিষ্কার, অবৈধ স্থাপনা অপসারণ, রাস্তা উঁচু করা।
