Wh- questions ask for information rather than a simple yes or no. They begin with a question word — who, what, where, when, why, which, whose or how — and are the key to real conversation, because they let you ask for details about people, places, times and reasons.
Wh- questions সাধারণ হ্যাঁ/না-এর বদলে তথ্য জানতে চায়। এগুলো শুরু হয় একটি প্রশ্নবোধক শব্দ দিয়ে — who, what, where, when, why, which, whose বা how — এবং প্রকৃত কথোপকথনের চাবিকাঠি, কারণ এগুলো দিয়ে মানুষ, স্থান, সময় ও কারণ সম্পর্কে বিস্তারিত জানা যায়।

A wh- question begins with a question word and asks for specific information. The usual order is: question word + auxiliary (do/does/did/is/are) + subject + main verb: 'Where do you live?'
Wh- question একটি প্রশ্নবোধক শব্দ দিয়ে শুরু হয় ও নির্দিষ্ট তথ্য জানতে চায়। সাধারণ ক্রম: প্রশ্নবোধক শব্দ + auxiliary (do/does/did/is/are) + subject + main verb: 'Where do you live?'

প্রশ্নবোধক শব্দগুলো: Who (কে), What (কী), Where (কোথায়), When (কখন), Why (কেন), Which (কোনটি), Whose (কার), How (কীভাবে)। সাধারণ গঠন: Wh-word + do/does/did + subject + মূল verb। যেমন — “Where do you live?”, “What does she want?”, “When did they arrive?” মনে রাখবেন do/does/did বসলে মূল verb-এ কোনো -s বা past form বসে না (did … go, not did … went)। তবে subject নিজেই যখন প্রশ্ন, তখন do/does লাগে না: “Who called you?” আর 'be' verb থাকলে do লাগে না: “Where is your bag?”

Most wh- questions need the auxiliary 'do/does/did' before the subject.

What does she want?
With he/she/it use 'does', and the main verb returns to its base form (want).
When did they arrived?
When did they arrive?
After 'did', the main verb stays in the base form (arrive, not arrived).

- Remember the order: Wh- word + do/does/did + subject + base verb. — ক্রমটি মনে রাখুন: Wh-শব্দ + do/does/did + subject + মূল verb।
- With the verb 'be', skip 'do': 'Where is he?', not 'Where does he be?'. — 'be' verb থাকলে 'do' বাদ দিন: 'Where is he?', 'Where does he be?' নয়।
- When 'who' or 'what' is the subject, don't add 'do': 'Who broke it?'. — 'who' বা 'what' নিজেই subject হলে 'do' যোগ করবেন না: 'Who broke it?'।

What are wh- questions?

How do I form a wh- question?
