Pronouns are small words that replace names — instead of 'Rahim called Rahim's friend', we say 'He called his friend'. But English has two sets: subject pronouns (I, he, they) that do the action, and object pronouns (me, him, them) that receive it. Choosing the right set is what this lesson is about.
Pronoun হলো ছোট শব্দ যা নামের বদলে বসে — 'Rahim called Rahim's friend'-এর বদলে আমরা বলি 'He called his friend'। ইংরেজিতে দুই ধরনের আছে: subject pronoun (I, he, they) যা কাজ করে, আর object pronoun (me, him, them) যা কাজটি গ্রহণ করে। সঠিকটি বেছে নেওয়াই এই পাঠের বিষয়।

A subject pronoun (I, you, he, she, it, we, they) does the action and comes before the verb. An object pronoun (me, you, him, her, it, us, them) receives the action and comes after the verb or a preposition.
Subject pronoun (I, you, he, she, it, we, they) কাজ করে এবং verb-এর আগে বসে। Object pronoun (me, you, him, her, it, us, them) কাজটি গ্রহণ করে এবং verb বা preposition-এর পরে বসে।

প্রতিটি subject pronoun-এর একটি জোড়া object pronoun আছে: I → me, you → you, he → him, she → her, it → it, we → us, they → them। Subject pronoun বাক্যের কর্তা — এটি verb-এর আগে বসে কাজটি করে (“She reads.”)। Object pronoun কর্ম — এটি verb বা preposition-এর পরে বসে কাজটি গ্রহণ করে (“I saw her.”, “Give it to him.”)। মনে রাখার সহজ উপায়: verb-এর আগে subject, verb বা to/for/with-এর পরে object। জোড়া ব্যবহারে ভুল এড়াতে অন্য নামটি সরিয়ে যাচাই করুন — “Me went” ভুল, তাই “My friend and I went” সঠিক।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Me and my friend went to the market.
My friend and I went to the market.
The subject of the sentence needs 'I', and politely you put yourself last.
She gave the gift to he.
She gave the gift to him.
After a preposition (to) you must use the object pronoun 'him'.
Him is my brother.
He is my brother.
The subject that does the action takes the subject pronoun 'he'.
Between you and I
Between you and me
'between' is a preposition, so it is followed by object pronouns: you and me.

- Subject pronouns come before the verb; object pronouns come after the verb or a preposition. — Subject pronoun verb-এর আগে বসে; object pronoun verb বা preposition-এর পরে বসে।
- To test 'I' or 'me' in a pair, remove the other person: 'Me went' is wrong, so say 'I went'. — জোড়ায় 'I' না 'me' বুঝতে অন্য জনকে সরান: 'Me went' ভুল, তাই বলুন 'I went'।
- After to, for, with and between, always use the object form (me, him, us, them). — to, for, with, between-এর পরে সবসময় object রূপ (me, him, us, them) ব্যবহার করুন।
