The Person I Like Most Composition

The person I like most is my elder sister, Nusrat. She is twenty-six and teaches at a primary school in Savar, and she is the reason I am still in school. When our father died I was eleven and she was nineteen, in her second year of college. Everybody in the family expected her to marry and move away, and one uncle said so at the funeral. She refused. She finished her degree while giving four private tuitions, and she has been paying my fees ever since. I did not understand what that cost her until years later, when I heard her tell a friend she had once wanted to study law. She is not a soft person and I do not want to make her sound like one. She corrects my English in front of other people, she never lets an excuse pass, and when I failed a test in class eight she did not comfort me — she sat down and went through every wrong answer with me until midnight. What I admire most is that she does not talk about any of it. She never reminds me what she gave up, and if I raise it she changes the subject. From her I have learnt three things: that a decision is worth more than a feeling, that you can be kind and strict at the same time, and that the people who do the most usually say the least about it. I want to earn enough one day to send her back to university, if she still wants it. She will say it is too late. I intend to argue.

এই রচনার সবচেয়ে বড় ফাঁদ হলো **প্রশংসার তালিকা** — 'তিনি খুব ভালো, খুব দয়ালু, সবাই তাঁকে ভালোবাসে'। এতে কোনো মানুষ দাঁড়ায় না। কাঠামো: (১) কে, বয়স, কী করেন, আর **এক লাইনে কেন তিনি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ**; (২) **একটা ঘটনা** — যেটায় তাঁর চরিত্র দেখা যায়; এটাই রচনার প্রাণ; (৩) **দোষ বা কঠিন দিকটাও লিখুন** — 'তিনি নরম মানুষ নন'; এতেই মানুষটা সত্যি হয়ে ওঠে, আর প্রায় কেউ এটা করে না; (৪) কী শিখেছেন — দুই-তিনটি নির্দিষ্ট কথা; (৫) শেষ ভাবনা। প্রিয় ব্যক্তি বিখ্যাত কেউ না হলেই ভালো — পরিবারের কেউ, শিক্ষক, প্রতিবেশী। বিখ্যাত কাউকে নিলে রচনাটা জীবনী হয়ে যায়, আর জীবনী পরীক্ষক ইতিমধ্যেই পড়ে ফেলেছেন।
