The villagers left their work and ran to the field with sticks in their hands. But when they reached the boy, they found no wolf at all. The sheep were grazing quietly and the boy was laughing at them. The villagers were annoyed and went back, muttering that the boy had made fools of them. A few days later the boy played the same trick again. Again the villagers ran to help him, and again they found nothing but a laughing boy and a peaceful flock. This time they were really angry. "Do not cry for help when there is no danger," an old farmer warned him. "One day nobody will come." Some days passed. One afternoon a wolf really came out of the forest and fell upon the sheep. The frightened boy ran towards the village, shouting, "Wolf! Wolf! Please save my sheep!" The villagers heard him clearly, but nobody moved. "The boy is lying again," they said to one another, and went on with their work. The wolf killed several sheep and carried one away. The boy came back to his flock and wept bitterly, but it was too late. He had told so many lies that nobody believed him when he told the truth.

এক রাখাল বালক মজা করার জন্য "নেকড়ে! নেকড়ে!" বলে চিৎকার করে। গ্রামবাসী ছুটে এসে দেখে কোনো নেকড়ে নেই, বালকটি হাসছে। কিছুদিন পর সে আবার একই কাজ করে; গ্রামবাসী এবার সত্যিই রেগে যায়। একদিন সত্যি সত্যিই নেকড়ে এসে ভেড়ার পালে হামলা করে। বালকটি চিৎকার করে সাহায্য চায়, কিন্তু কেউ আসে না — সবাই ভাবে সে আবার মিথ্যা বলছে। নেকড়ে কয়েকটি ভেড়া মেরে ফেলে, আর বালকটি কেঁদে ফেলে। এত মিথ্যা বলেছিল যে সত্যি বলার সময় কেউ তাকে বিশ্বাস করল না।
কীভাবে লিখবেন — structure
এই গল্পে তিনটি ধাপ আছে এবং তিনটিই লিখতে হবে — প্রথম মিথ্যা, দ্বিতীয় মিথ্যা, তারপর আসল বিপদ। একটি ধাপ বাদ দিলে শেষটা হঠাৎ মনে হয় এবং moral-টা জোর পায় না। প্রতিটি ধাপের জন্য একটি করে অনুচ্ছেদ রাখুন। সময়ের ব্যবধান বোঝাতে "A few days later", "Some days passed", "One afternoon" — এই ধরনের শব্দ ব্যবহার করুন; এগুলো ছাড়া সব ঘটনা একই দিনে ঘটছে বলে মনে হয়। গ্রামবাসীর একটি সংলাপ রাখুন ("The boy is lying again") — এতে শেষটা কেন এমন হলো তা পাঠক নিজেই বুঝে যান, আপনাকে ব্যাখ্যা করতে হয় না।
