I have stood first in my class in every examination since class six and secured the highest marks in mathematics and English in the last half-yearly examination. My father was a rickshaw puller and has been unable to work since a road accident in March, in which he lost the use of his right arm. My mother works as a domestic help and earns six thousand taka a month, out of which four thousand is spent on house rent. I have two younger sisters, both of whom study in the primary section. It has become impossible for my family to pay my monthly tuition fee, and I am at present three months in arrears. I have never been absent without leave and have taken part in the school debating competition for two consecutive years.
