A dialogue is a written conversation between two or more people. In exams you often write a dialogue between two friends, so knowing the layout and natural spoken phrases makes it quick and easy.
ডায়ালগ হলো দুই বা ততোধিক ব্যক্তির মধ্যে লিখিত কথোপকথন। পরীক্ষায় প্রায়ই দুই বন্ধুর মধ্যে ডায়ালগ লিখতে হয়, তাই সঠিক বিন্যাস ও স্বাভাবিক কথ্য বাক্য জানা থাকলে এটি দ্রুত ও সহজ হয়ে যায়।

A dialogue is written with each speaker's name on the left, a colon, and then their words — turn by turn — using natural spoken English and correct punctuation.
ডায়ালগ লেখা হয় প্রতিটি বক্তার নাম বাঁ পাশে, তার পর একটি colon (:), এরপর তার কথা — এক এক করে পালাক্রমে — স্বাভাবিক কথ্য ইংরেজি ও সঠিক যতিচিহ্ন ব্যবহার করে।

ডায়ালগ লেখার নিয়ম: (১) সবার আগে একটি ছোট শিরোনাম দাও, যেমন “A dialogue between two friends about their studies”। (২) প্রতিটি নতুন বক্তার নাম বাঁ পাশে লিখে তার পর colon (:) বসাও, তারপর তার কথা লেখো। (৩) প্রতিবার বক্তা বদলালে নতুন লাইনে যাও। (৪) স্বাভাবিক কথ্য ইংরেজি ব্যবহার করো — greetings (Hi, How are you?), short forms (I'm, don't, can't) এবং প্রশ্ন-উত্তর। (৫) শুরুতে সম্ভাষণ ও শেষে বিদায় (Bye, See you) রাখো। মনে রেখো, প্রশ্নে ‘?’ ও বিস্ময়ে ‘!’ ঠিকভাবে বসাও। কথোপকথন যেন সত্যিকারের মানুষের কথা বলার মতো শোনায়।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Writing all the lines in one long paragraph.
Start a new line each time the speaker changes.
A dialogue must show turns clearly, so every new speaker begins on a fresh line.

Rahim: Hi Karim, how are you?
Put a colon after the name and use commas, question marks and full stops correctly.
I am fine. I do not know. I cannot come.
I'm fine. I don't know. I can't come.
Spoken English uses short forms, which make a dialogue sound natural.
Ending with no goodbye at all.
Close with a short farewell like 'See you' or 'Bye'.
Real conversations open with a greeting and end with a goodbye.
