Introductionভূমিকা

For most Bangladeshis, the first piece of English that total strangers ever read is a review — three lines under a Daraz order, a Google rating for a restaurant in Dhanmondi, feedback left for a client on Upwork. And most of those three lines say only “good product, fast delivery, seller is very good.” That sentence helps nobody choose anything. A review earns its place the moment it contains one thing the photographs could not tell you.

A review is a judgement backed by evidence, written for someone deciding whether to spend money or time. Four moves: say what it is, describe it without giving away the ending, evaluate the good and the bad with a reason attached to each, and name who it is right for. An opinion with no reason is a rating, not a review.

**প্রথম নিয়ম: প্রতিটা মতের পিঠে একটা কারণ।** “The food was good” কিছুই বলে না; “The beef tehari had real flavour but arrived lukewarm, and we waited forty minutes on a Tuesday evening” — এটা পড়ে একজন সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে পারেন। একইভাবে “The phone is nice” নয়, “The battery lasted a full day with heavy use, but the fingerprint sensor fails about one time in five.” নিজের লেখা পরীক্ষা করার সহজ উপায়: প্রতিটা বাক্যের শেষে মনে মনে **“because…”** যোগ করুন। যেখানে কিছু বসাতে পারছেন না, ওই বাক্যটাই ফাঁপা। **দ্বিতীয় নিয়ম: বর্ণনা আর মূল্যায়ন আলাদা রাখুন।** আমাদের খাতায় ও ফেসবুক পোস্টে সিনেমা বা বইয়ের রিভিউ প্রায়ই পুরো গল্পটার সারসংক্ষেপ হয়ে দাঁড়ায় — এবং শেষটাও বলে দেওয়া হয়। বর্ণনা দুই-তিন বাক্যের বেশি নয়, আর **spoiler কখনো নয়**; বাকিটা আপনার মূল্যায়ন। বই বা সিনেমার ক্ষেত্রে যা যা মূল্যায়ন করতে পারেন: গল্পের গতি, অভিনয়, সংলাপ, নির্মাণ, শেষটা কতটা বিশ্বাসযোগ্য। পণ্যের ক্ষেত্রে: গুণমান, স্থায়িত্ব, দামের তুলনায় মূল্য, বিক্রেতার আচরণ, ডেলিভারির সময়। রেস্তোরাঁর ক্ষেত্রে: খাবার, দাম, পরিষেবা, পরিবেশ, পরিচ্ছন্নতা। **তৃতীয় নিয়ম: অন্তত একটা দুর্বল দিক লিখুন।** যে রিভিউতে শুধু প্রশংসা, পাঠক সেটাকে বিশ্বাস করেন না — বিশেষ করে বাংলাদেশের অনলাইন বাজারে, যেখানে সাজানো রিভিউ নিয়ে সবাই সন্দিহান। একটা সৎ সীমাবদ্ধতা লিখলে বাকি প্রশংসাটুকুর ওজন বেড়ে যায়। উল্টোদিকে, রাগ থেকে লেখা রিভিউও দুর্বল: ব্যক্তিগত আক্রমণ, বড় হাতের অক্ষরে চিৎকার, বা প্রমাণহীন অভিযোগ — এগুলো আপনার অভিযোগটাকেই অবিশ্বাস্য করে তোলে। শান্ত, নির্দিষ্ট, তারিখসহ বর্ণনাই সবচেয়ে জোরালো। **চতুর্থ নিয়ম: শেষে বলুন এটা কার জন্য।** “Recommended” যথেষ্ট নয়। “Worth it if you cook at home twice a week; not worth it if you only need it for guests.” / “Good for a quick lunch with colleagues, not for a family dinner with children.” এই এক লাইনেই রিভিউটা কাজের হয়ে ওঠে। **কাজে লাগবে এমন কিছু শব্দ।** ইতিবাচক: enjoyable, well-made, value for money, reliable, worth watching, a pleasant surprise। নেতিবাচক কিন্তু ভদ্র: disappointing, overpriced, slow, poorly finished, not as described। মাঝামাঝি: decent, average, does the job। আর একটা কাঠামোগত অভ্যাস, যা বিশেষ করে ফ্রিল্যান্সারদের কাজে লাগে — Upwork বা Fiverr-এ ক্লায়েন্টকে ফিডব্যাক দেওয়ার সময় দুটো জিনিস লিখুন: কাজটা কী ছিল, আর যোগাযোগ কেমন ছিল। “Clear brief, quick replies, paid on time” — তিনটে তথ্য, আর প্রতিটাই পরের ফ্রিল্যান্সারের কাজে লাগে। এটাই ভালো রিভিউয়ের পুরো ধারণা: আপনার পরে যিনি আসবেন, তাঁর সিদ্ধান্তটা একটু সহজ করে দেওয়া।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল

It is very good. I like it.
It is enjoyable because the story is clever and the acting is strong.
A review needs reasons — say why it is good, not just that it is good.
In the end, the hero dies and the killer is his brother.
The ending is surprising, but I won't spoil it here.
Avoid spoilers; describe without revealing the key twist or ending.
The movie were amazing.
The movie was amazing.
'Movie' is singular, so use 'was', not 'were'.
This is best phone.
This is the best phone I have used this year.
Use 'the' before a superlative like 'best', and add a comparison to make it meaningful.

Tipsটিপস

Always give a reason after your opinion — 'enjoyable because…', 'disappointing because…'. — মতামতের পরে সবসময় কারণ দিন — 'enjoyable because…', 'disappointing because…'।
Mention both a strength and a weakness so the review feels balanced and honest. — একটি ভালো দিক ও একটি দুর্বল দিক দুটোই বলুন, যাতে review ভারসাম্যপূর্ণ ও সৎ মনে হয়।
Finish with a clear recommendation: who should watch, read or buy it. — স্পষ্ট সুপারিশ দিয়ে শেষ করুন: কার দেখা, পড়া বা কেনা উচিত।
