The introduction is the first paragraph the reader meets, and it decides whether they keep reading. A good introduction opens with a hook, gives a little background, and ends with a clear main idea (the thesis).
ভূমিকা হলো প্রথম অনুচ্ছেদ যা পাঠক পড়েন, আর এটিই ঠিক করে দেয় তিনি পড়া চালিয়ে যাবেন কি না। ভালো ভূমিকা একটি hook দিয়ে শুরু হয়, একটু background দেয়, আর শেষ হয় স্পষ্ট মূল ভাবনা (thesis) দিয়ে।

An introduction is the opening paragraph of an essay or piece of writing that presents the topic and states the main idea you will explain.
ভূমিকা হলো একটি প্রবন্ধ বা লেখার প্রথম অনুচ্ছেদ, যা বিষয়টি উপস্থাপন করে এবং যে মূল ভাবনা তুমি ব্যাখ্যা করবে তা জানিয়ে দেয়।

সহজ template: (১) Hook — একটি প্রশ্ন, তথ্য বা মজার লাইন দিয়ে পাঠকের মন টানো। (২) Background — বিষয়টি নিয়ে দুই-এক লাইন প্রেক্ষাপট দাও। (৩) Thesis — শেষ বাক্যে তোমার মূল ভাবনা বা লেখার উদ্দেশ্য স্পষ্ট করে বলো। ভূমিকা ছোট রাখো — সাধারণত ৩ থেকে ৫ বাক্য যথেষ্ট। এখানে গল্পের সব কিছু বলে দিও না; শুধু পাঠককে ভেতরে ঢোকার আগ্রহ তৈরি করো।

- Start narrow enough to be interesting: a real number, a question, or a small scene. — শুরুটা আকর্ষণীয় করতে ছোট করে শুরু করো: একটি সংখ্যা, একটি প্রশ্ন বা একটি ছোট দৃশ্য দিয়ে।
- Put the thesis as the last sentence so it leads the reader into the body. — Thesis-কে শেষ বাক্যে রাখো, যাতে তা পাঠককে মূল অংশে টেনে নিয়ে যায়।
- Do not repeat the essay question word for word — reword it in your own voice. — প্রবন্ধের প্রশ্ন হুবহু নকল করো না — নিজের ভাষায় নতুন করে লেখো।

How long should an introduction be?
