Introductionভূমিকা

“Do like and share my page.” The extra “do” comes straight from Bangla, where a polite request is built into the verb ending — লাইক দিয়েন, শেয়ার করবেন — and there is no separate word to carry over. English already has the request in the imperative: “Please like and share my page.” The other habit is calling an account an “ID” — my Facebook ID, my Instagram ID — which in English means an identity card. It is your account, or your profile.

“Do like and share my page.” — বাড়তি “do”-টা সরাসরি বাংলা থেকে এসেছে, যেখানে ভদ্র অনুরোধ ক্রিয়ার রূপেই ঢুকে থাকে — লাইক দিয়েন, শেয়ার করবেন — আর আলাদা করে নিয়ে যাওয়ার মতো কোনো শব্দ থাকে না। ইংরেজিতে অনুরোধটা imperative-এর ভেতরেই আছে: “Please like and share my page.” দ্বিতীয় অভ্যাসটা হলো অ্যাকাউন্টকে “ID” বলা — আমার ফেসবুক আইডি, ইনস্টাগ্রাম আইডি — যেটা ইংরেজিতে বোঝায় পরিচয়পত্র। ইংরেজিতে ওটা আপনার account, বা profile।

Most social-media words are both nouns and verbs, and English keeps them in the same shape: a post / to post, a like / to like, a share / to share, a comment / to comment, a follow / to follow. Once you notice that pattern, the vocabulary roughly halves.

ক্রিয়াগুলোর সাথে কী বসে সেটা আগে ঠিক করুন, কারণ বাংলার “করা” এখানেও ঢুকে পড়ে। পোস্ট দেওয়া হয় post something বা make a post — “do a post” নয়। লাইক দেওয়া হয় like something সরাসরি — “do like to my page” নয়, “like my page”; বিশেষ্য হিসেবে বলতে হলে “give it a like”। মন্তব্য করা comment ON something (“He commented on my photo”), শেয়ার করা share something, ট্যাগ করা tag someone IN a photo, উল্লেখ করা mention someone, অনুসরণ করা follow someone, বন্ধু হওয়া add someone বা send a friend request, ব্লক করা block someone, আনফলো unfollow, রিপোর্ট report a post। আর একটা জোড়া মনে রাখুন: followers মানে যারা আপনাকে অনুসরণ করে, আর following মানে আপনি যাদের অনুসরণ করেন — তাই “She has many followings” নয়, “She has many followers”। এবার নিয়মিত লাগা শব্দগুলো, যেগুলোর বাংলা প্রতিশব্দ খোঁজার দরকার নেই কারণ ইংরেজি শব্দটাই আন্তর্জাতিক: a caption (ছবির নিচের লেখা), a hashtag, a story, a reel, a thread, a feed (যা স্ক্রল করে দেখেন), a timeline, a profile picture বা a DP, a bio (নিজের পরিচয়ের ছোট লেখা), a DM বা direct message, a group, a page, an admin, engagement (কতজন সাড়া দিল), reach (কতজনের কাছে পৌঁছাল), a screenshot। ভাইরাল হওয়ার কথা বলতে ইংরেজিতে go viral — “The video went viral overnight”; “it got viral” বা “it became viral” এখানে চলে না, কারণ go-এর সাথেই জোড়াটা বাঁধা। আর কনটেন্ট বানানোর শব্দ: post regularly, edit a video, add a caption, tag a location, go live (সরাসরি সম্প্রচার), collaborate with someone। শেষে দুটো কথা, যেগুলো কেবল শব্দভান্ডারের নয়। এক, ইংরেজিতে অনলাইনে লেখার ভঙ্গি বাংলার চেয়ে বেশি সরাসরি — লম্বা ভূমিকা বা “Respected sir, hope you are fine” দিয়ে শুরু করা DM বিদেশি প্রাপকের কাছে অদ্ভুত লাগে; সোজা কাজের কথায় যান: “Hi — I loved your video on tenses. Could I ask one question about it?” দুই, সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া আসলে ইংরেজি শেখার সবচেয়ে সহজ জায়গা, কারণ শব্দগুলো প্রতিদিন চোখে পড়ে। অ্যাপের ভাষা এক সপ্তাহের জন্য ইংরেজি করে দিন, আর দিনে একটা কমেন্ট ইংরেজিতে লিখুন — লম্বা নয়, এক লাইন। যে ভাষায় আপনি প্রতিদিন কিছু লেখেন, সেই ভাষাটাই শেষ পর্যন্ত মুখে আসে।

    We 'make a post' or simply 'post something'. 'Do a post' is not natural English.

  • Please do like to my page.

    Please like my page.

    'Like' is already a verb here; you don't need 'do like to'. Just say 'like my page'.

  • She has many followings on Instagram.

    She has many followers on Instagram.

    The people who follow you are 'followers'. 'Following' is the group you follow, not a countable list of fans.
