Science vocabulary is the set of technical words used to describe the natural world and experiments: energy, experiment, cell, gravity, element and more. Knowing them helps you read textbooks and answer exam questions in English.

বিজ্ঞানের শব্দ বিষয় অনুযায়ী ভাগ করুন। পদার্থবিজ্ঞান: energy (শক্তি), force (বল), gravity (অভিকর্ষ), motion (গতি)। রসায়ন: element (মৌল), compound (যৌগ), reaction (বিক্রিয়া), atom (পরমাণু)। জীববিজ্ঞান: cell (কোষ), organ (অঙ্গ), species (প্রজাতি), tissue (কলা)। পদ্ধতি: experiment (পরীক্ষা), hypothesis (অনুমান), observation (পর্যবেক্ষণ)। মনে রাখবেন — data শব্দটি বহুবচন হিসেবে ধরা হয় (the data are clear), আর species শব্দটি একবচন ও বহুবচনে একই রকম থাকে (one species, many species)।

- Cell — the smallest unit of a living thing: The human body is made of billions of cells.কোষ — জীবের ক্ষুদ্রতম একক। মানবদেহ কোটি কোটি কোষ দিয়ে তৈরি।
- Element — a pure substance made of one kind of atom: Oxygen and hydrogen are common elements.মৌল — এক ধরনের পরমাণু দিয়ে তৈরি বিশুদ্ধ পদার্থ। অক্সিজেন ও হাইড্রোজেন সাধারণ মৌল।
- Energy — the ability to do work: The sun gives us light and heat energy.শক্তি — কাজ করার সামর্থ্য। সূর্য আমাদের আলো ও তাপশক্তি দেয়।
- Reaction — a change when substances act together: Mixing the two liquids caused a reaction.বিক্রিয়া — পদার্থ একসাথে কাজ করলে যে পরিবর্তন হয়। দুই তরল মেশানোর ফলে একটি বিক্রিয়া হলো।
- Hypothesis — an idea you test in an experiment: Our hypothesis was that heat speeds up the reaction.অনুমান — পরীক্ষায় যাচাই করা একটি ধারণা। আমাদের অনুমান ছিল তাপ বিক্রিয়াকে দ্রুত করে।

'Data' is already plural (from 'datum'), so there is no 's': the data are clear.

'Species' stays the same in singular and plural — never 'specie' for a kind of animal.

'Experiment' is a scientific test; 'experience' means what you have learned or felt.
Water is an element made of hydrogen and oxygen.
Water is a compound made of hydrogen and oxygen.
An element has one kind of atom; a compound joins two or more elements, like water (H₂O).

Is 'data' singular or plural?
Strictly, 'data' is plural (the singular is 'datum'), so careful and academic English uses 'the data are'. In casual speech many people say 'the data is', but for exams the plural form is safer.
What is the difference between an element and a compound?
An element is a pure substance with only one kind of atom, like oxygen. A compound is made when two or more elements join, like water (hydrogen + oxygen).
Why do science words often look the same in Bangla and English?
