Bangla Explanationবাংলা ব্যাখ্যা
সাধারণ পোশাক: shirt (শার্ট), trousers/pants (প্যান্ট), dress (ফ্রক/জামা), skirt (স্কার্ট), jacket (জ্যাকেট), sweater (সোয়েটার), sari (শাড়ি), panjabi (পাঞ্জাবি), salwar kameez (সালোয়ার কামিজ)। কিছু পোশাক সবসময় বহুবচন — trousers, jeans, shorts, glasses — এগুলোকে 'a pair of' দিয়ে গোনা হয়: 'a pair of jeans'। পরা বোঝাতে দুটি শব্দ: 'wear' মানে পরে থাকা (অবস্থা), 'put on' মানে পরে নেওয়া (কাজ)। কেনাকাটায় দরকারি: size (মাপ), try on (পরে দেখা), fit (মাপে হওয়া), cotton (সুতি), silk (রেশম), loose (ঢিলা), tight (আঁটসাঁট)।

Tipsটিপস
- Memorise the 'always plural' clothes as one set: trousers, jeans, shorts, pyjamas, glasses — count them with 'a pair of'. — সবসময় বহুবচন পোশাকগুলো একসাথে মনে রাখুন: trousers, jeans, shorts, pyjamas, glasses — 'a pair of' দিয়ে গুনুন।
- Pair 'wear' with a state and 'put on' with an action; 'take off' is the opposite of 'put on'. — 'wear' অবস্থার সাথে, 'put on' কাজের সাথে; 'put on'-এর বিপরীত হলো 'take off'।
- Learn fabric words (cotton, silk, wool, leather) as adjectives before the item: 'a cotton shirt'. — কাপড়ের শব্দ (cotton, silk, wool, leather) বিশেষণ হিসেবে item-এর আগে শিখুন: 'a cotton shirt'।
- Practise shopping phrases like 'try on', 'fit', 'size' and 'in a different colour' before you visit a shop. — দোকানে যাওয়ার আগে 'try on', 'fit', 'size', 'in a different colour'-এর মতো বাক্য অনুশীলন করুন।

What is the difference between 'cloth', 'clothes' and 'clothing'?
'Cloth' is fabric/material (a piece of cloth). 'Clothes' are the items you wear and is always plural (my clothes are new). 'Clothing' is an uncountable, more formal word for clothes in general (winter clothing).
Why do words like 'trousers' and 'jeans' take a plural verb?
They name items with two legs or two parts, so English treats them as plural. Use 'are', not 'is', and count them with 'a pair of': a pair of trousers.
When do I use 'wear' and when do I use 'put on'?
Use 'put on' for the action of dressing (put on your shoes) and 'wear' for the ongoing state (she wears glasses). 'Take off' is the opposite of 'put on'.
