Everywhere else in English you soften an instruction into a question — "Could you…", "Would you mind…". Directions are the one exception. "Go straight, turn left at the lights, it's on your right." Bare commands, no please, and nobody finds it rude. Knowing where the politeness rule stops is as useful as knowing the rule.

Giving directions is three moves in a loop: a movement verb (go, turn, take), a distance or a trigger point (for two blocks, at the lights, past the pharmacy), and finally where the place sits (on your left, opposite the mosque). Repeat until you arrive.

Then turn right…" দুই, রাস্তা না জানলে ভান করবেন না; ইংরেজিতে বলার ভদ্র বাক্য আছে — "Sorry, I'm not from around here" বা "Sorry, I'm not sure — you could ask in that shop." ভুল পথ দেখানোর চেয়ে এটা অনেক বেশি সাহায্য।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল

Go to the straight.
Go straight.
'Straight' needs no 'to the' — just say 'go straight' or 'go straight ahead'.
Turn to the left hand.
Turn left.
In English we simply say 'turn left' or 'turn right' — no 'hand' and no 'to the'.

The natural question for directions is 'How do I get to …?', not a word-for-word 'how I will go'.
Go front.
Go straight ahead.
'Go front' is a direct translation; natural English is 'go straight ahead' or 'keep going forward'.

Add 'you can't miss it' to reassure someone the place is easy to find. — 'You can't miss it' যোগ করলে বোঝায় জায়গাটা সহজেই খুঁজে পাওয়া যাবে।
If you're not sure, say 'I think it's this way' instead of pointing the wrong way confidently. — নিশ্চিত না হলে জোর দিয়ে ভুল দিক না দেখিয়ে বলুন 'I think it's this way'।
