Definitionসংজ্ঞা
Describing a person means talking about their appearance (height, build, hair, face) and their personality (kind, funny, shy). We usually use 'be', 'have got' and adjectives: 'She is tall', 'He has short hair', 'They are friendly'.
কারো বর্ণনা মানে তার চেহারা (উচ্চতা, গড়ন, চুল, মুখ) ও স্বভাব (দয়ালু, মজার, লাজুক) নিয়ে বলা। সাধারণত 'be', 'have got' আর adjective ব্যবহার করি: 'She is tall', 'He has short hair', 'They are friendly'।
Bangla Explanationবাংলা ব্যাখ্যা
কারো চেহারা বলতে উচ্চতা ও গড়নের জন্য 'be' ব্যবহার করুন — 'He is tall and slim.'; আর চুল-চোখের জন্য 'have (got)' — 'She has long black hair.'। বয়স বোঝাতে 'He is in his twenties.' বা 'She looks young.' বলা যায়। স্বভাব বোঝাতে adjective বসান — 'kind', 'funny', 'shy', 'hard-working'। মনে রাখবেন, ইংরেজিতে adjective সাধারণত noun-এর আগে বসে (a tall man, নয় a man tall)। ভদ্রতার জন্য চেহারা নিয়ে নেতিবাচক মন্তব্য এড়িয়ে চলুন।

Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
She has 25 years.
She is 25 (years old).
For age, English uses 'be', not 'have': 'She is 25', not 'has 25 years' (a direct translation).
He is a man tall.
He is a tall man.
Adjectives go before the noun in English: 'a tall man', not 'a man tall'.
She has hairs long.
She has long hair.
'Hair' is usually uncountable (no 's'), and the adjective 'long' comes first.
He is looking like his brother.
He looks like his brother.
For a general resemblance use the present simple 'looks', not 'is looking'.
Tipsটিপস
- Use 'be' for height and build, and 'have (got)' for hair and eyes: 'He is tall and has dark hair.' — উচ্চতা ও গড়নে 'be' এবং চুল-চোখে 'have (got)' ব্যবহার করুন: 'He is tall and has dark hair.'
- Soften descriptions with 'a bit' or 'quite': 'He's quite tall', 'She's a bit shy' — it sounds gentler. — 'a bit' বা 'quite' দিয়ে বর্ণনা নরম করুন: 'He's quite tall', 'She's a bit shy' — শুনতে ভদ্র লাগে।
- Be tactful about looks; instead of 'fat', people often say 'a bit heavy' or 'well-built'. — চেহারা নিয়ে কৌশলী হোন; 'fat' না বলে অনেকে বলেন 'a bit heavy' বা 'well-built'।
- To identify someone in a group, use 'the one with…': 'the girl with glasses', 'the guy in the blue shirt'. — ভিড়ের মধ্যে কাউকে চেনাতে 'the one with…' বলুন: 'the girl with glasses', 'the guy in the blue shirt'।
