A dictionary does far more than give a word's meaning. It shows the part of speech, the pronunciation, example sentences and the different meanings a word can have. Knowing how to read an entry lets you pick the right meaning every time.
ডিকশনারি শুধু শব্দের অর্থই দেয় না। এটি দেখায় শব্দটির পদ (part of speech), উচ্চারণ, উদাহরণ বাক্য আর একটি শব্দের নানা অর্থ। এন্ট্রি পড়তে জানলে প্রতিবার সঠিক অর্থটি বেছে নিতে পারবেন।

A dictionary entry lists a word with its part of speech (noun, verb, adjective), its pronunciation, one or more meanings, and example sentences. You use it by finding the word, then choosing the meaning that fits your sentence.
ডিকশনারি এন্ট্রিতে একটি শব্দের সাথে থাকে তার পদ (noun, verb, adjective), উচ্চারণ, এক বা একাধিক অর্থ ও উদাহরণ বাক্য। শব্দটি খুঁজে বের করে, আপনার বাক্যে মানানসই অর্থটি বেছে নিয়ে এটি ব্যবহার করবেন।

ডিকশনারিতে শব্দগুলো বর্ণানুক্রমে (alphabetical order) সাজানো থাকে, তাই দ্রুত খুঁজতে প্রথম কয়েকটি অক্ষর ধরে এগোন। একটি এন্ট্রি খুললে প্রথমে দেখবেন পদ: n. মানে noun (বিশেষ্য), v. মানে verb (ক্রিয়া), adj. মানে adjective (বিশেষণ)। একই শব্দের একাধিক অর্থ থাকলে সেগুলো 1, 2, 3 করে দেওয়া থাকে — আপনার বাক্যের সাথে কোনটি মেলে সেটাই নিন, প্রথমটাই সবসময় ঠিক নয়। উদাহরণ বাক্য (example sentence) দেখলে বোঝা যায় শব্দটি বাস্তবে কীভাবে ব্যবহার হয়। উচ্চারণ চিহ্ন (/ /) দেখায় শব্দটি কীভাবে বলতে হয়। মনোলিঙ্গুয়াল (শুধু ইংরেজি) ডিকশনারি ব্যবহার করলে ইংরেজিতে চিন্তা করার অভ্যাস তৈরি হয়, যা শেখা দ্রুত করে।
