Model Paragraph (191 words)
Good manners mean behaving towards others with the consideration we would want for ourselves. They cost nothing and are noticed by everyone. A person with good manners greets others first, says please and thank you without being reminded, and apologises when he is wrong instead of explaining why he is not. He listens without interrupting, keeps his voice low in a hospital or a library, and does not stare at his phone while someone is talking to him. In public he stands in a queue rather than pushing to the front, gives his seat to an elderly passenger, and drops his rubbish in a bin rather than on the road. At home he speaks gently to servants and juniors, which is the truest test, because manners shown only to superiors are not manners at all but calculation. Good manners open doors that talent alone cannot: an employer remembers a candidate who was courteous to the receptionist, and a teacher gives time to a student who asks politely. They are learnt young, mostly by watching adults rather than by being told, which is why a rude parent rarely raises a courteous child.

Good manners mean behaving towards others as we would want them to behave towards us. They cost nothing and everyone notices them. A well-mannered person greets others first, says please and thank you, listens without interrupting and apologises when he is wrong. In public he stands in a queue, gives his seat to an elderly passenger and drops rubbish in a bin. At home he speaks gently to juniors, which is the truest test, because manners shown only to superiors are calculation. Good manners are learnt young, mostly by watching adults, which is why a rude parent rarely raises a courteous child.

Manners makes a man.
Manners make a man.
'Manners' is plural, so the verb takes no -s. The proverb is also overused — better to explain than to quote.
We should be polite with everyone.
We should be polite to everyone.
'Polite' takes 'to', not 'with'.
A good mannered person is loved by all.
A well-mannered person is trusted, and an employer remembers him.
The adjective is 'well-mannered', and 'loved by all' is a claim nobody can test. Give a real consequence.
We should show good manners to our teachers and elders.
Manners shown only to superiors are not manners but calculation.
Limiting courtesy to seniors misses the whole point, and noticing that is what lifts the answer.
- Is this the same as 'Courtesy' or 'Etiquette'?
- Courtesy is nearly the same and the content transfers. Etiquette is narrower — the specific rules of a situation, like table manners — so adjust if the question uses that word.
- Should I list rules or explain them?
- Explain a few rather than list many. Six behaviours with a reason beat twenty in a row, which reads as a school notice.
- Can I give Bangladeshi examples?
- Yes, and they help: queueing at a ticket counter, giving a seat on a bus, speaking gently to household help. Familiar examples make the answer feel observed.
- What is the best closing idea?
- That manners are learnt by watching rather than by being told. It puts the responsibility on adults, which is both true and unusual in an exam script.
