Book Reading Paragraph

Book reading means reading for oneself rather than for an examination, and the two are almost opposite activities. A textbook is read to pass; a book is read because something in it is worth knowing. Reading widens a life in a way nothing else can. A student sitting in a village in Rangpur can spend an afternoon in nineteenth-century Russia, follow an argument made two thousand years ago, or learn what a doctor does in a war. It also does something quieter: it teaches a person to hold an idea he does not agree with long enough to understand it, which is a rarer skill than it sounds. Our students read very little outside the syllabus. Coaching fills the afternoons, guidebooks replace the original, and a phone is easier company than a book. School libraries exist on paper and stay locked. Yet the habit costs almost nothing to build. Twenty minutes a day, a book chosen by the reader rather than assigned, and permission to abandon anything boring will do it. A person who reads is never entirely alone and never entirely bored, and neither of those is a small thing.

প্রথম বাক্যেই একটা **পার্থক্য** টানুন — পাঠ্যবই পড়া আর বই পড়া এক জিনিস নয়। এতেই উত্তরটা গড়ের উপরে উঠে যায়। ক্রম: (১) সংজ্ঞা ও পার্থক্য; (২) পড়া কী দেয় — **নির্দিষ্ট উদাহরণ**, 'জ্ঞান বাড়ে' নয়; (৩) কম প্রচলিত উপকার — ভিন্নমত বোঝার ক্ষমতা; (৪) **কেন আমরা পড়ি না** — কোচিং, গাইড, ফোন, তালাবদ্ধ লাইব্রেরি; (৫) কীভাবে অভ্যাস গড়া যায় — বিশ মিনিট, নিজের পছন্দের বই, বিরক্তিকর বই ছেড়ে দেওয়ার অনুমতি। পঞ্চম অংশটা কাজের পরামর্শ, আর 'বিরক্তিকর বই ছেড়ে দেওয়া যাবে' কথাটা প্রায় কেউ লেখে না।
