English weather idioms were built in a country where the worst that happens is drizzle. “A storm in a teacup” means a fuss about nothing — which is a strange thing to say in a country that names its cyclones and evacuates coastal districts. But “when it rains, it pours” is simply a description of July in Bangladesh, and “under the weather” is the politest way in English to tell your office you are not coming in. Take the ones that fit and keep the rest as reading knowledge.
