Two of these you already own. “Beat around the bush” is ঘুরিয়ে-পেঁচিয়ে বলা, the same avoidance in both languages; “talk behind someone's back” is পিঠ পিছে বলা, again the same picture. Then there is “I heard it through the grapevine”, where a grapevine — a plant nobody here grows — somehow means gossip, and there is nothing to reason from. Communication idioms are worth learning carefully, because getting one wrong is a misunderstanding about a misunderstanding.

Communication idioms describe how people say things rather than what they say: avoiding the point, misunderstanding each other, agreeing, speaking frankly, or passing news around informally. Most of them carry a judgement, and that judgement is the part learners miss.
