Introductionভূমিকা

In Bangla you can say ছোট কালো ব্যাগ or কালো ছোট ব্যাগ and nobody blinks — both are ordinary Bangla. English does not hand you that freedom. “A small black bag” passes; “a black small bag” makes the listener stop for half a second. Ask a native speaker why and they cannot tell you, because nobody taught them either. They picked the order up by ear, which is why the only correction you ever get is “that sounds a bit odd.”

বাংলায় 'ছোট কালো ব্যাগ' বলুন বা 'কালো ছোট ব্যাগ' — দুটোই স্বাভাবিক বাংলা, কেউ কিছু মনে করে না। ইংরেজি এই ছাড়টা দেয় না। “A small black bag” ঠিক, কিন্তু “a black small bag” শুনলে শ্রোতা আধ সেকেন্ডের জন্য থমকে যায়। কেন থমকাল জিজ্ঞেস করলে নেটিভ স্পিকার নিজেও বলতে পারবে না, কারণ তাকেও কেউ এই ক্রম শেখায়নি — সে কানে শুনে শিখেছে। তাই ভুল করলে আপনি সংশোধন পাবেন না, পাবেন শুধু একটা মন্তব্য: sounds a bit odd।

Definitionসংজ্ঞা

When adjectives stack up before a noun they follow one sequence: opinion, size, age, shape, colour, origin, material, purpose, then the noun. OSASCOMP is the usual memory word, but the idea underneath it is worth more than the acronym — the harder a fact the adjective states about the object, the closer it sits to the noun; the more it is only your judgement, the further left it moves.

Bangla Explanationবাংলা ব্যাখ্যা

পুরো ক্রমটা একবার দেখে নিন: Opinion (beautiful, ugly) → Size (big, small) → Age (old, new) → Shape (round, square) → Colour (red, black) → Origin (Italian, Bengali) → Material (wooden, silk) → Purpose (dining, sleeping) → noun। বইয়ের চেনা উদাহরণ — “a beautiful small old round black wooden dining table।” দ্বিতীয়ত, a, the, this, my, two — এগুলো adjective নয়, determiner, আর এরা সবার আগে বসে; তাই “two beautiful old houses” হয়, “beautiful two old houses” নয়। তৃতীয়ত, বাস্তবে তিনটির বেশি adjective পরপর বসালে বাক্য কৃত্রিম শোনায়। নেটিভরাও সাধারণত দুটোর বেশি বসায় না — বাকি বর্ণনাটা আলাদা বাক্যে বা of দিয়ে জুড়ে দেয়।
