Meaning

Up to now, or used to mean but.

Example sentences

  • The bus has not come yet.বাস এখনো আসেনি।
  • It was raining, yet they walked on.বৃষ্টি হচ্ছিল, তবুও তারা হেঁটে চলল।

A common mistake

I have yet not finished the work.→I have not finished the work yet.

In a negative sentence yet goes at the end. Only in formal writing does it move forward: I have yet to finish.
