Model Composition (313 words)
Introduction: Most countries are inherited. Ours was won, within the memory of people still living, and the distance between those two facts is the reason this subject is taught at all. How it came to war: The demand did not begin in 1971. It began in 1952, when students were shot for asking that Bangla be a state language, and it hardened through two decades in which this half of the country produced much of the wealth and received little of it. The 1970 election settled the argument democratically — and when the result was set aside, the argument moved out of the assembly. The war: On the night of 25 March 1971 the Pakistani army began a military operation on the sleeping city of Dhaka. Independence was declared, and the war lasted nine months. It was fought by the Mukti Bahini — students, farmers, workers and defecting soldiers — in a way no regular army trains for: ambushes, blown bridges, and the slow ruin of an occupying force's confidence. A government in exile took oath on 17 April at Mujibnagar and gave the resistance a state to belong to. What it cost: The country remembers three million martyrs and the violation of hundreds of thousands of women, and it lost a generation of teachers, doctors and writers who were taken and killed in the last days, when the outcome was already certain. Ten million people crossed the border and waited in camps for a country to come back to. Victory: On 16 December 1971 the occupying force surrendered in Dhaka. A new state existed, and nothing about it had been given. Conclusion: We inherited it from people who were the same age as us and had far less. The debt is not paid by flowers on one December morning; it is paid by building the country they were imagining while they fought.

The Liberation War started on 16 December 1971.
The war began on 25 March 1971 and victory came on 16 December 1971.
Reversing the two central dates of the national story is the single most damaging error available in this composition.
The war lasted for three years.
The war lasted nine months.
The nine months are part of what every Bangladeshi examiner knows by heart, so the error is noticed immediately and colours the whole script.
Beginning the composition at 25 March 1971 with no background.
Starting from 1952 and the years of unequal treatment that followed.
Without the background the war looks like an accident, and the causes paragraph is where the reasoning marks live.
Filling the composition with adjectives and no events.
Naming the language movement, the 1970 election, Mujibnagar and the surrender.
Emotion without facts reads as a speech, and the content marks are given for what the writer actually knows.
- Which dates must I include?
- 21 February 1952, 25 March 1971, 17 April 1971 for the Mujibnagar government, and 16 December 1971. Those four carry most of the content marks.
- Should I write about the number of martyrs?
- Yes — three million is the figure the country officially remembers, and it belongs in the composition. Write it as what the nation remembers rather than as a count you have verified.
- Can I use this for 'Victory Day' or '16 December'?
- Largely. For Victory Day, shorten the war narrative and add how the day is observed now — the wreaths at the memorial, the parade, and what the observance is for.
