Music and arts vocabulary covers the words for sounds, instruments, and visual works: melody, rhythm, lyrics, painting, sculpture and artist. These words let you describe and enjoy creative work in English.

সংগীতের শব্দ ভাগ করে শিখুন। সুর সম্পর্কিত: melody (সুর), rhythm (তাল/ছন্দ), tune (সুর), lyrics (গানের কথা)। মানুষ: singer (গায়ক), musician (বাদক), composer (সুরকার), artist (শিল্পী)। যন্ত্র: instrument (বাদ্যযন্ত্র), drum (ঢোল/ড্রাম), flute (বাঁশি)। শিল্পকলায়: painting (চিত্রকর্ম), drawing (অঙ্কন), sculpture (ভাস্কর্য), canvas (ক্যানভাস)। মনে রাখবেন — যন্ত্র বাজানো বোঝাতে আমরা বলি “play the guitar”, “play the flute” (the সহ)। আর গান বোঝাতে song (একটি নির্দিষ্ট গান) আর music (সাধারণভাবে সংগীত) — এই দুটোর পার্থক্য জানা জরুরি।

- Rhythm — the regular beat of music: You can clap along with the rhythm of the drum.তাল/ছন্দ — সংগীতের নিয়মিত মাত্রা। ঢোলের তালের সাথে তালি দিতে পারো।
- Lyrics — the words of a song: The lyrics of this song are about love and freedom.গানের কথা — গানের শব্দগুলো। এই গানের কথাগুলো ভালোবাসা ও স্বাধীনতা নিয়ে।
- Composer — a person who writes music: The composer created a new tune for the film.সুরকার — যিনি সংগীত রচনা করেন। সুরকার সিনেমার জন্য একটি নতুন সুর তৈরি করলেন।
- Painting — a picture made with paint: She hung a painting of a river on the wall.চিত্রকর্ম — রং দিয়ে আঁকা ছবি। সে দেয়ালে একটি নদীর চিত্রকর্ম ঝুলিয়েছে।
- Sculpture — a work of art carved or shaped from stone, metal or clay: The museum has a marble sculpture of a dancer.ভাস্কর্য — পাথর, ধাতু বা মাটি দিয়ে তৈরি শিল্পকর্ম। জাদুঘরে একজন নর্তকীর মার্বেল ভাস্কর্য আছে।
- Audience — the people who listen or watch: The audience clapped after the performance.শ্রোতা/দর্শক — যারা শোনে বা দেখে। পরিবেশনার পর দর্শকেরা হাততালি দিল।
Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
She can play guitar very well.
She can play the guitar very well.
With musical instruments we normally use 'the': play the guitar, play the flute.
I heard a nice music on the radio.
I heard nice music on the radio.
'Music' is uncountable, so it takes no 'a'. For one piece say 'a song' or 'a piece of music'.
He is a good painter, he draws beautiful paintings.
He is a good painter; he paints beautiful pictures.
You 'paint' a painting and 'draw' a drawing — match the verb to the artwork.
The song's words were very touching.
The song's lyrics were very touching.
The natural word for the words of a song is 'lyrics', not 'words'.

- Split the topic in two: 'music' words (melody, rhythm, lyrics) and 'art' words (painting, sculpture, canvas). Is 'music' countable or uncountable?
'Music' is uncountable, so we never say 'a music'. Use 'a song', 'a piece of music' or 'a tune' when you mean one item.
When do we use 'the' with instruments?
When we talk about the skill of playing, we use 'the': she plays the piano. In some informal or band contexts you may hear it dropped, but 'play the piano' is the safe, standard form.
What is the difference between 'draw' and 'paint'?
You 'draw' with a pencil or pen to make a drawing, and you 'paint' with paint to make a painting. Match the verb to the tool and the artwork.
