আপনি যদি সবে ইংরেজি পড়া শুরু করেন, লক্ষ্য প্রতিটি শব্দ বোঝা নয় — লক্ষ্য হলো থামা ছাড়া পড়ে যাওয়া এবং উপভোগ করা। শুরুর শিক্ষার্থীরা প্রতিদিন ছোট, সহজ লেখা পড়ে এবং ধীরে ধীরে কঠিন লেখায় গিয়ে সবচেয়ে দ্রুত উন্নতি করে। এই গাইড দেখাবে কোথা থেকে শুরু করবেন আর কীভাবে পড়ার অভ্যাস গড়বেন।

Beginner reading means starting with short, simple texts (signs, captions, easy stories, children's books) that use common everyday words, and reading them regularly to build speed, vocabulary and confidence.
শুরুর পর্যায়ের পড়া মানে ছোট, সহজ লেখা দিয়ে শুরু করা (সাইনবোর্ড, ক্যাপশন, সহজ গল্প, শিশুদের বই) যেখানে পরিচিত দৈনন্দিন শব্দ থাকে, আর নিয়মিত পড়ে গতি, শব্দভান্ডার ও আত্মবিশ্বাস গড়ে তোলা।

শুরুতে সবচেয়ে বড় ভুল হলো কঠিন খবরের কাগজ বা উপন্যাস দিয়ে শুরু করা — এতে হতাশা আসে। বদলে সহজ জিনিস দিয়ে শুরু করুন: শিশুদের গল্পের বই, সহজ ইংরেজি খবর, পণ্যের প্যাকেটের লেখা, ইউটিউব ক্যাপশন। নিয়ম তিনটি — (১) প্রতিদিন অন্তত ১০ মিনিট পড়ুন, একদিনে অনেক নয়। (২) প্রতিটি নতুন শব্দে থামবেন না; আগে অর্থ আন্দাজ করুন বাকি বাক্য দেখে। (৩) একই সহজ লেখা কয়েকবার পড়ুন — দ্বিতীয়বার অনেক সহজ লাগবে এবং আত্মবিশ্বাস বাড়বে। ছবি ও শিরোনাম আগে দেখে নিলে লেখাটা কী নিয়ে তা আন্দাজ করা সহজ হয়।

- Open the door, please.দয়া করে দরজাটা খুলুন। (সাইন ও নির্দেশনায় এমন লেখা দেখা যায়)
- We are happy today because it is a holiday.আজ আমরা খুশি কারণ ছুটির দিন। (কারণ বোঝাতে 'because')
- She has a small blue bag.তার একটি ছোট নীল ব্যাগ আছে। (রঙ ও আকার বোঝানো সহজ বাক্য)
Common Mistakesসাধারণ ভুল
Starting with a hard newspaper or novel on day one.
Start with children's books or very simple stories, then move up slowly.
Texts that are far above your level create stress and make you quit; easy wins build a habit.
Stopping to look up every single unknown word.
Guess the meaning from the sentence first; look up a word only if it blocks the idea.
Stopping constantly breaks your flow and makes reading tiring and slow.
Trying to read for one hour once a week.
Read a little every day — even 10 minutes daily beats one long session.
Short daily practice builds a lasting habit and steady memory, which occasional bursts do not.
Reading silently while unsure how words sound.
Read easy texts aloud sometimes to connect spelling with sound.
Hearing the words helps beginners recognise them faster next time.

- Choose texts where you already know about 90% of the words — that is the right beginner level. — এমন লেখা বেছে নিন যেখানে ৯০% শব্দ আপনি আগে থেকেই জানেন — এটাই সঠিক শুরুর মাত্রা।
- Look at the pictures and title first to guess what the text is about. — লেখাটা কী নিয়ে তা আন্দাজ করতে আগে ছবি ও শিরোনাম দেখুন।
- Re-read the same easy story a few times; it feels easier and boosts confidence. — একই সহজ গল্প কয়েকবার পড়ুন; সহজ লাগবে এবং আত্মবিশ্বাস বাড়বে।
- Keep a small notebook and write only 3–5 new words a day, with a Bangla meaning. — একটি ছোট খাতা রাখুন এবং দিনে মাত্র ৩–৫টি নতুন শব্দ বাংলা অর্থসহ লিখুন।

I am a total beginner. What should I read first?
