Aim in Life Paragraph

An aim in life is the purpose a person sets for himself and works towards deliberately. Without one, a life drifts: a man without an aim is like a boat without a rudder, moved by whatever current happens to be strongest. My own aim is to become a doctor, and I did not choose it because it is respected or well paid. I chose it after my grandmother died of a treatable illness because the nearest doctor was thirty kilometres away and we reached him too late. There are villages in this country where a single qualified doctor serves twenty thousand people. To reach my aim I know what is required — good marks in science, admission to a medical college, five years of study, and years of practice after that. I also know the honest difficulty: the cost is high and my family is not wealthy, so a scholarship or a stipend will decide much of it. What I have decided is that I will practise in a district town rather than in Dhaka, and that a poor patient will not be turned away for money. An aim is only worth having if it makes some difference beyond the person who holds it.

জীবনের লক্ষ্য হলো সেই উদ্দেশ্য, যা একজন মানুষ নিজের জন্য ঠিক করেন এবং সচেতনভাবে সেদিকে কাজ করেন। লক্ষ্য না থাকলে জীবন ভেসে বেড়ায় — লক্ষ্যহীন মানুষ হালবিহীন নৌকার মতো, যে স্রোত সবচেয়ে জোরালো সেই স্রোতেই ভাসে। আমার লক্ষ্য ডাক্তার হওয়া, আর সম্মান বা ভালো আয়ের জন্য এটা বেছে নিইনি। বেছে নিয়েছি আমার দাদির মৃত্যুর পর — চিকিৎসাযোগ্য একটা রোগে তিনি মারা যান, কারণ নিকটতম ডাক্তার ছিলেন ত্রিশ কিলোমিটার দূরে আর আমরা পৌঁছেছিলাম অনেক দেরিতে। এ দেশে এমন গ্রাম আছে যেখানে বিশ হাজার মানুষের জন্য একজন যোগ্য চিকিৎসক। লক্ষ্যে পৌঁছাতে কী লাগবে তা জানি — বিজ্ঞানে ভালো নম্বর, মেডিকেল কলেজে ভর্তি, পাঁচ বছরের পড়া, তারপর বছরের পর বছর অনুশীলন।

এই বিষয়ে প্রায় সব উত্তর একই রকম: 'আমি ডাক্তার হতে চাই কারণ ডাক্তারি মহান পেশা।' আলাদা হওয়ার তিনটি উপায়: (১) **কেন এই লক্ষ্য — একটা নির্দিষ্ট কারণ দিন**, ব্যক্তিগত ঘটনা হলে সবচেয়ে ভালো; (২) **কীভাবে পৌঁছাবেন — ধাপগুলো লিখুন**, শুধু ইচ্ছা নয়; (৩) **অসুবিধাটাও স্বীকার করুন** — খরচ, পরিবারের সামর্থ্য, বৃত্তির প্রয়োজন। শেষে বলুন লক্ষ্যটা অন্যদের জন্য কী করবে — জেলা শহরে থাকা, গরিব রোগীকে না ফেরানো। শেষ বাক্যটা রাখুন: **লক্ষ্য তখনই মূল্যবান, যখন তা লক্ষ্যধারীর বাইরেও কিছু বদলায়।**
