Its uses are genuine. Families separated by migration see each other daily. Small businesses run entirely from a page and reach customers no shop could. Students share notes and find teachers, and during a flood, volunteers and donations are organised through it faster than through any office. It has also done real harm. Rumours spread on it have led to houses being burnt and people being killed in this country, because a false post travels further than the correction that follows. Photographs are stolen and used to blackmail girls. Students lose hours every night to it and cannot say where the time went, and researchers link heavy use with anxiety and poor sleep. The platform is not the problem; the use is. Checking a claim before sharing it, keeping the account private, fixing a time limit and putting the phone in another room at night would change more than any complaint about the modern age.

সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যম মানে সেই ওয়েবসাইট ও অ্যাপ, যেগুলোর মাধ্যমে মানুষ কনটেন্ট তৈরি ও ভাগাভাগি করেন এবং একে অপরের সাথে কথা বলেন — আর বাংলাদেশে এখন বিপুলসংখ্যক মানুষ খবর পান এখান থেকেই। এর সত্যিকারের ব্যবহার আছে: অভিবাসনে বিচ্ছিন্ন পরিবার প্রতিদিন একে অপরকে দেখে; ছোট ব্যবসা কেবল একটা পেজ থেকেই চলে, এমন ক্রেতার কাছে পৌঁছায় যেখানে কোনো দোকান পারত না; শিক্ষার্থীরা নোট ভাগ করে, শিক্ষক খুঁজে পায়; বন্যায় স্বেচ্ছাসেবক ও ত্রাণ সংগঠিত হয় যেকোনো অফিসের চেয়ে দ্রুত। ক্ষতিও করেছে বাস্তবেই। এখানে ছড়ানো গুজবে এ দেশে ঘরবাড়ি পুড়েছে, মানুষ মারা গেছে — কারণ মিথ্যা পোস্ট তার সংশোধনীর চেয়ে অনেক দূর যায়।

এই বিষয়ে গড় উত্তর ভালো-মন্দের দুটো তালিকা দেয়। শক্তিশালী উত্তর দুটো কাজ বেশি করে: (১) **নির্দিষ্ট বাংলাদেশি উদাহরণ** — বন্যায় ত্রাণ সংগঠিত করা, গুজবে সহিংসতা, পেজ থেকে চলা ছোট ব্যবসা; (২) **কার্যকর পরামর্শ দিয়ে শেষ** — শেয়ারের আগে যাচাই, অ্যাকাউন্ট প্রাইভেট, সময়ের সীমা, রাতে ফোন অন্য ঘরে। শেষ অবস্থানটা স্পষ্ট রাখুন: **মাধ্যমটা সমস্যা নয়, ব্যবহারটা**। 'মিথ্যা পোস্ট তার সংশোধনীর চেয়ে দূরে যায়' — এই বাক্যটা গুজবের গোটা সমস্যাটা এক লাইনে ধরে ফেলে।
