Good notes turn listening into learning. But writing full sentences makes you miss the next point. The skill is to capture key words, symbols and short forms fast — so your pen keeps up with the speaker.
ভালো নোট শোনাকে শেখায় রূপান্তরিত করে। কিন্তু পুরো বাক্য লিখলে পরের পয়েন্ট মিস হয়। দক্ষতা হলো দ্রুত মূল শব্দ, চিহ্ন ও সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ ধরে রাখা — যাতে তোমার কলম বক্তার সাথে তাল মেলাতে পারে।

Note-taking while listening means writing short cues — keywords, numbers, arrows and abbreviations — instead of full sentences, so you record the meaning without falling behind.
শোনার সময় নোট নেওয়া মানে পুরো বাক্যের বদলে সংক্ষিপ্ত সংকেত লেখা — মূল শব্দ, সংখ্যা, তীর ও সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ — যাতে পিছিয়ে না পড়ে অর্থটা ধরে রাখা যায়।

নিয়ম: পুরো বাক্য লিখো না, শুধু মূল শব্দ (keyword) ধরো — বিশেষ্য, সংখ্যা, নাম, তারিখ। সাধারণ শব্দগুলোর জন্য নিজের সংক্ষিপ্ত রূপ বানাও: 'because' = 'bc', 'important' = 'imp', 'and' = '&', 'increase' = '↑', 'decrease' = '↓', 'leads to' = '→'। একটি বাক্য পুরোপুরি না ধরতে পারলেও থেমো না — ফাঁকা জায়গা রেখে পরের পয়েন্টে যাও। শোনার পরপরই ৩০ সেকেন্ড নিয়ে নোটগুলো পরিষ্কার করো, যেন পরে বুঝতে পারো। IELTS listening-এও এই কৌশল খুব কাজে দেয়, কারণ উত্তর একবারই বলা হয়।

- Write '↑ price' instead of 'the price went up'.'the price went up'-এর বদলে '↑ price' লেখো।
- Use '&' for 'and' and 'w/' for 'with'.'and'-এর জন্য '&' এবং 'with'-এর জন্য 'w/' ব্যবহার করো।
- Capture names, numbers and dates first — they are hard to guess later.প্রথমে নাম, সংখ্যা ও তারিখ ধরো — পরে এগুলো অনুমান করা কঠিন।
- Use an arrow '→' to show cause: 'rain → flood'.কারণ বোঝাতে তীর '→' ব্যবহার করো: 'rain → flood'।
- Leave a blank space when you miss a word; do not stop.কোনো শব্দ মিস করলে ফাঁকা জায়গা রাখো; থেমো না।
- Write 'bc' for 'because' and 'eg' for 'for example'.'because'-এর জন্য 'bc' এবং 'for example'-এর জন্য 'eg' লেখো।
- Tidy your notes within 30 seconds of finishing.শেষ করার ৩০ সেকেন্ডের মধ্যে নোট গুছিয়ে নাও।

Trying to write every word the speaker says.
Writing only keywords, numbers and symbols.
Full sentences are too slow, so you fall behind and miss the next idea entirely.
Freezing when you miss one word.
Leaving a blank and moving on with the speaker.
Stopping to recover one word costs you the whole next sentence.
Never reviewing notes after listening.
Tidying and completing them within a minute.
Messy notes make no sense hours later; a quick review while it is fresh saves them.
Looking down at the page the whole time.
Keeping your focus on the sound, glancing to write.
Listening leads; your notes should follow your ears, not the other way round.

- Build a personal set of symbols and stick to them. — নিজের একটি চিহ্নের সেট তৈরি করো এবং সেটিই ব্যবহার করো।
- Note the structure — main points on the left, details indented. — কাঠামো লেখো — মূল পয়েন্ট বাঁয়ে, বিস্তারিত একটু ভেতরে।
- Prioritise numbers, names and dates — they rarely repeat. — সংখ্যা, নাম ও তারিখকে অগ্রাধিকার দাও — এগুলো খুব কমই পুনরাবৃত্তি হয়।
- Practise with short talks first, then longer lectures. — প্রথমে ছোট বক্তৃতা দিয়ে অনুশীলন করো, তারপর দীর্ঘ লেকচার।
