A common mistake

Twenty gauge sheet must be thicker than sixteen gauge, since twenty is the bigger number.→The scale runs backwards: the higher the gauge number, the thinner the sheet, so sixteen gauge is noticeably thicker than twenty. And a freshly cut edge is as sharp as a blade — which is why sheet metal is handled in gloves and the cut edge is filed before anyone runs a hand along it.
