A common mistake

Knitwear means woollen winter clothing — sweaters and scarves.→In the garment trade it means any cloth made by looping a single yarn, as against woven cloth made by crossing two sets of threads. T-shirts, polo shirts and vests are all knitwear, most of them cotton and most of them worn in hot weather — and they make up a very large share of what Bangladesh exports.

নিট ও ওভেন কাপড়ের পার্থক্য গঠনে, উপাদানে নয়। নিট কাপড়ে একটিই সুতা ফাঁস তৈরি করে করে এগোয়, তাই কাপড় স্থিতিস্থাপক — টি-শার্ট টানলে বাড়ে। ওভেন কাপড়ে টানা ও পড়েন সুতা আড়াআড়ি বোনা হয়, তাই তা প্রায় টানে না — শার্ট বা প্যান্টের কাপড় সেরকম। বাংলাদেশের পোশাক রপ্তানির হিসাবও এই দুই ভাগেই রাখা হয়, আর নিটের অংশ বিশাল।
