A common mistake

A dubbed film gives you the exact translation of the original dialogue.→It cannot. Each new line has to fit the length of the original and, as far as possible, its lip movements — so a dubbing writer trades exactness for fit, which is why the subtitles and the dubbed track of the same film often say noticeably different things.
