The interest rate in the advertisement tells you what the loan will cost.→It rarely does — processing fees, insurance and, above all, how the interest is calculated all count. A 'flat' rate charges interest on the whole original amount for the whole term, even as you pay it down, so it costs far more than the same number on a reducing balance.
